NBC is working on a spinoff of "The Office" focusing on one character from the current show, Deadline.com reports. The project, built around Rainn Wilson’s character Dwight Schrute, is being readied for a possible midseason 2013 debut, the piece says.

The new show is reportedly a family comedy, with Dwight living at the family beet farm and B&B.

Wilson and "The Office" executive producer and showrunner Paul Lieberstein, who came up with the idea, would executive produce with "The Office" executive producers Ben Silverman and Howard Klein, the story notes. Greg Daniels, who developed and executive produces "The Office," isn’t involved, the piece adds.
