One broadcast network dominated the ratings with its New Year’s Eve programming, reports The New York Times’ ArtsBeat blog.

The network is ABC, which celebrated with "Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve" delivering the network’s best year-end prime-time ratings since 2000, the story reports.

The show’s 8-10 p.m. block drew 8.3 million viewers, which the article calls "an unusually high number for a Saturday night." The 10 p.m. hour with Ryan Seacrest drew about 13 million viewers, while NBC’s competing special with Carson Daly attracted only 3 million viewers, the story notes.

For the midnight countdown, about 22.6 million people tuned in, the story says. The show was the 40th anniversary of "Rockin’ Eve."

ABC noted that the program’s ratings have increased for three consecutive years, the piece adds.
