Lady Gaga has been accused for some time now of stealing from another pop diva who came before her, and that pop diva has finally decided to speak out about it.
In an interview with ABC’s “Nightline,” Madonna said of Gaga: “I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it’s amusing and flattering and well-done. When I heard [‘Born This Way’] on the radio … I said, ‘That sounds very familiar’ … It felt reductive," MTV.com reports.
The story adds: “When asked if ‘reductive’ was good or bad, Madonna replied, ‘Look it up.’"
We did look it up, and its definition is apparently something akin to “diminishing” … so, we would say, it’s bad.
Madonna, who is promoting her upcoming album “M.D.N.A.” and her movie “W.E.,” said Lady Gaga is making a "statement about taking something that was in the Zeitgeist, you know, 20 years ago and turning it inside out and reinterpreting it," the MTV story reports.
“Nightline’s” Madonna interview will also be featured tonight on “20/20,” the story notes.
