ABC has announced the star of the upcoming eighth edition of “The Bachelorette,” and for the first time in the show’s history, it will be a single mom.
The network is bringing back Emily Maynard, who won Brad Womack’s heart on the 15th season of “The Bachelor.” Their relationship didn’t work out, but Maynard is a favorite among fans and will get another chance to find love in the spotlight of a reality show.
Maynard is the widow of NASCAR driver and team owner Ricky Hendrick, and has a 6-year-old daughter, Ricki. Hendrick was killed in a plane crash in October 2004.
She will have 25 bachelors to choose from in “The Bachelorette,” which debuts this spring.
