TLC later this month will begin rolling out two new shows with a premise that sounds as though it may have been inspired by the plot of the Eddie Murphy movie “Coming to America,” EW.com’s Inside TV blog reports.
"Undercover Princesses" and "Undercover Princes," about royalty disguising themselves as commoners to find partners in love, have received orders from TLC, the story reports.
The series will follow six royal heirs from countries as wide-ranging as Germany and Uganda as they date without people knowing about their royal baggage, the story notes. They’ll leave their servants and learn how to cook, clean and shop, as well as taking on regular jobs, according to the story.
"Princes" will debut Jan. 31, while "Princesses" will premiere Feb. 28. A special is set for March 27 that will provide an update. The shows originally aired on BBC Three.
