ABC made ratings history with its telecast Sunday of an NBA game, ESPN and ABC Sports reported. The game between the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers was the networks’s most viewed non-Christmas Day regular-season NBA game in history.

The game, played in L.A. and won by the Lakers, averaged 7.037 million total viewers, according to Nielsen figures. That number was up 37% from the 5.12 million total viewers for the comparable game last season, when the Lakers played the San Antonio Spurs.

Sunday’s game also scored a 13.9 rating in Miami — the market’s second-highest regular-season NBA game ever on ABC — and a 9.6 rating in Los Angeles.
