After seeing viewers turn out for Fox’s “American Idol” and “X Factor” and NBC’s “The Voice,” another network has announced plans for its own singing competition.
CW will roll out “The Star Next Door,” from Queen Latifah, for a summer run, EW.com reports. The show is launching a national search for talent.
The network said in its announcement: “In this new take on the music competition genre, superstar mentors, including pop legend Gloria Estefan and country star John Rich, will travel to where the talent is, immersing themselves in the lives and towns of these local performers and preparing them for the chance to represent their home city on stage, live, in front of America.”
The CW is also ordering the reality shows “Breaking Pointe” and “The Catalina” for summer. “Breaking Pointe” focuses on competitive ballet, while “The Catalina” is set in a Miami hotel.
