Cable Networks are ready to present their programming to advertisers in the upfront, but there’s at least one problem: All the shows are starting to look the same, Advertising Age reports.
The trend has been toward look-alike auction, pawn, bargain-hunting and repo shows, the story notes, with “Pawn Stars,” “Storage Wars,” “American Pickers” and “Auction Hunters” just the tip of the iceberg.
Viewers continue to turn out for the shows, spawning new generations of copycat programs. But the proliferation of look-alike shows is bound to create problems down the road.
