There were gasps in a Los Angeles courthouse on Thursday, March 8, 2012, when an executive producer of "Desperate Housewives" revealed, under oath, a very surprising major event that will happen on the show this Sunday night, March 11, 2012, the Los Angeles Times reports

The executive producer, George Perkins, revealed that a major character on the show, Mike Delfino, played by James Denton, will be killed off.

Reports the Times, "Asked if any other character of Edie’s prominence had been killed off, Perkins shifted uncomfortably in his seat before answering. ‘Mike Delfino,’ Perkins said, referring to the character played by James Denton.

"Two female jurors clasped their mouths. ‘You just spilled a secret from Sunday night?’ lawyer Patrick Maloney asked. ‘Yes,’ Perkins acknowledged.

"The lawyer jokingly asked if the judge wanted to impose a gag order on the reporters covering Sheridan’s suit. ‘I can’t order that,’ Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Elizabeth White said."

Perkins testified in a suit brought by Nicollette Sheridan against ABC and the show for killing off her character, Edie Britt, in 2009 on "Desperate Housewives" and the reason(s) behind that decision.
