The father of JonBenet Ramsey, the child beauty pageant contestant who was found murdered in the basement of her Colorado house in 1996, has taken aim at the TLC show "Toddlers and Tiaras," reports ABC News.

John Ramsey, who says he has viewed snippets of the program, finds the reality show disturbing, according to the piece. "It’s very bizarre,” he says of the show. He added that he regrets allowing his 6-year-old daughter to compete in pageants.

"We were so naive. I now believe with all my heart that it’s not a good idea to put your child on public display," Ramsey said.

He added that his wife, Patsy, wasn’t as intense about it as the “tiger moms” on the hit TLC show. “Patsy and JonBenet didn’t approach it that way. We — they just did it for fun,” he said.

Ramsey added that he believes his daughter’s murderer is still at large. Initially the Boulder, Colo., police treated the Ramseys as suspects, although the District Attorney’s Office completely cleared the parents of wrongdoing 12 years later and issued an apology in 2008.

Ramsey has just released a book called "The Other Side of Suffering," in which he writes about the ordeal and how he emerged from the tragedy.
