Fox’s ‘New Girl’ Is Bright Spot in Tuesday Ratings

With CBS serving up reruns Tuesday night, Fox’s comedy "The New Girl" was the top show overall in the key 18-49 demo, TVbytheNumbers.com reports.

“New Girl” pulled in a 3.0 average rating in viewers 18-49, equaling its previous original episode. Fox won the night with a 2.1 average, according to fast affiliate numbers, which may be subject to more than the usual adjustments due to election coverage. CBS followed with a 1.9 average for its all-repeat lineup, then NBC with a 1.6, Univision at 1.4 and ABC, which also went heavy on repeats, at 1.3.

Total viewers was a different story, with CBS the runaway leader, averaging 11.5 million viewers for repeats of “NCIS,” “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Unforgettable. The rest of the pack was way behind, with NBC averaging 4.9 million, ABC averaging 4.6 million and Fox averaging 4.5 million. Univision averaged 3.3 million total viewers.

ABC’s only fresh programs, “Cougar Town” at 8:30 p.m. and “The River” at 9 p.m., both averaged modest 1.5 ratings in the 18-49 demo.
