Robert B. Sheman, a songwriter mostly identified with Disney songs, has died in London at age 86, according to a number of media reports. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Sherman, along with his brother, Richard, 83, "penned such classic tunes from Disney films as ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘Jungle Book,’ and non-Disney films like ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,’ " writes Mike Fleming at Deadline.com.
The brothers also wrote "It’s a Small World," for the Disney amusement park ride.
The brother team also wrote a number of pop songs, including "You’re Sixteen, You’re Beautiful and You’re Mine," Deadline notes.
The story adds, "Despite the happy words, the [brothers] had a complicated relationship," and the two men "had a falling out after Disney died, and didn’t speak for years."
