One of the stars of "Northern Exposure" has been cast in the title role in the CBS drama pilot "Widow Detective," reports Deadline.com.

John Corbett will play Denny Brennan, a police detective who takes on the role of husband, lover and father to the families of the three partners he’s lost in the line of duty, the story notes.

The role brings Corbett back to CBS after his breakout role on "Northern Exposure," where he played Chris Stevens from 1990-1995.

  1. The only way this series works is if you either give him a current partner that’s female (because after losing 3 male partners, no men will ride with him anymore) OR a male rookie who gets assigned to him for the same reason. I guess you could go dark comedy with it and have his partners consistently meet with accidents every so often….. Still, doesn’t sound like a keeper.

  2. Lonestar

  3. Lonestar was picked up, this won’t make the cut.
