Showtime’s "Californication" is working on a spinoff based on a new character who will be introduced next season, reports EW.com’s Inside TV.

The character, Faith, was an innocent Catholic schoolgirl who becomes a groupie after falling in love with rock ‘n’ roll, the story notes. Faith, now in her mid- to late 20s, has traveled with several bands and is considered a muse by some artists, and remains religious despite her fondness for the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, the piece adds.

The character will have a nine-episode arc in the show’s sixth season, which will debut in 2013.

A spinoff isn’t a sure thing, however: The right actress will have to be cast, and then the character will have to connect with viewers, the piece points out.
