History Channel has been hit with a court action by former gang member William Austin, who alleges in a complaint filed Monday that the network’s "Gangland" series exercised “conscious disregard” of his rights when the show displayed private pictures of him, reports Deadline.com.

Austin, who is representing himself against A&E Television and Gangland Productions, describes himself as a "devout Christian," although he admitted that his role as a whistleblower gained him some "notoriety," the story says. Austin turned government witness against the white supremacist gang Public Enemy No. 1, the story adds.

The show used images of Austin during its sixth season, when a 2010 episode focused on the gang. Austin alleges that as a result he has received death threats and now “constantly fears for his life and is in daily anguish as a result of the unauthorized publication of his likeness," according to the report.
