Judge in George Zimmerman Case Steps Down Because of CNN Connection

Citing her husband’s ties to a CNN analyst, Judge Jessica Recksiedler, the judge in the George Zimmerman case, has recused herself, reports TVNewser.com.

The judge is married to an attorney whose business partner, Mark NeJame, has been tapped by CNN to provide commentary on the case, the story notes. Zimmerman, who faces a second-degree murder charge in the shooting death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin, also consulted NeJame about his defense, the piece adds.

Judge Recksiedler offered to recuse herself if one of the lawyers asked for her to do so, and Zimmerman’s attorney Mark O’Mara made the move, the piece adds. Her replacement is Judge Kenneth Lester Jr., the story says.
