Lifetime has decided to take a pass on a pilot from Melanie Griffith, Deadline.com reports. The drama pilot, "American Housewife," stars Griffith and is executive produced by the actress and her husband and partner Antonio Banderas.

Griffith plays an apparently perfect housewife in the project, living in an affluent community and married to an up-and-coming politician, the story says. The pilot was written and executive produced by Erik Jendresen based on an idea developed by him and Banderas, the story says.

With the successful debut of Lifetime’s new drama series "The Client List," the pressure is off at the network to push ahead with its development slate, the piece adds. The network also recently took a pass on on the pilot “Modern Love.”
