It has been rumored for months, but now it’s official: Lindsay Lohan has signed with Lifetime to play the lead in the cable channel’s upcoming biopic “Liz & Dick,” Deadline.com reports.
We reported back in February that Lohan apparently had the role of Elizabeth Taylor lined up, but at that time she was still going through probation and the job was contingent on her staying out of trouble. Lohan wrapped up her probation last month.
Things haven’t exactly gone smoothly for Lohan since then, as she has reportedly gone back to partying pretty regularly. But Lifetime announced today that the casting is official. The project, which focuses on Taylor’s romance with actor Richard Burton, will begin shooting in early June, the channel said.
Lifetime’s statement includes a quote from Lohan, who says: “I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.”
