Aaron Sorkin Reveals Whether Keith Olbermann Was the Inspiration for ‘The Newsroom’

Aaron Sorkin opened up about his HBO show "The Newsroom" and discussed whether the characters are based on real people, reports the New York Post’s Page Six.

Sorkin denied that Keith Olbermann was the inspiration for Jeff Daniels’ outspoken character on the show. “I didn’t base it on him. It was during an interview with the BBC that I mentioned him, and, suddenly, it blew up. So blame the BBC!” Sorkin said at a Time Warner Center premiere Monday in New York, the story notes.

One character is based on a real person, however. The financial reporter played by Olivia Munn is loosely based on CNN personal finance correspondent Christine Romans, Sorkin said, according to the story.
