One of the co-showrunners on a Fox drama series that has been on the air since 2008 has left the program ahead of the show’s fifth and final season, reports TheWrap.com.

Jeff Pinkner, who has worked as co-showrunner on "Fringe" since 2008, has left to work on other projects, the story says. The show will return for a final 13-episode season.

"For four years, J.H. Wyman and Jeff Pinkner have worked tirelessly as a team to keep all the worlds in order on ‘Fringe,’" co-creator and executive producer J.J. Abrams said, according to the story.

Wyman will continue as showrunner to conclude the program’s final season, the piece adds.
