Emmy-Winning ‘Desperate Housewives’ Actress Dies

An actress who won two Emmy Awards for her work on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” has died, ABCNews.com reports. Kathryn Joosten, who played Karen McCluskey on the show, was 72.

Joosten died Saturday in Los Angeles after fighting lung cancer for several years.

Joosten won two Emmys for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series for her work on "Desperate Housewives," which ended last month after eight seasons on ABC. Her character died of cancer in the show’s season finale, the piece adds.

Joosten is also known for her role as the president’s secretary, Dolores Landingham, on "The West Wing," and appeared in many other TV shows, including "Scrubs," "Spin City" and "Grey’s Anatomy."
