A former "NYPD Blue" writer was arrested after allegedly punching a small poodle in the face so hard that the animal died from a brain injury, reports the New York Post.
The writer is Ted Shuttleworth, 51, who has also worked for Steven Spielberg. He allegedly hit the dog on May 29 because he was angry at the animal, the story says. He took the 4-1/2-pound dog to a veterinarian, who raised suspicions and got the ASPCA involved, the piece notes.
Shuttleworth, who also works as an administrative assistant at New York University, could face up to a year in prison, the story says. His wife called it a "horrible accident," according to the article.
