Morning Fixture Reportedly Turns Down Secret Offer From NBC to Replace Curry on ‘Today’

One of the fixtures of morning television has reportedly turned down a "big contract" to replace Ann Curry as co-host on NBC’s "Today," reports TMZ.com.

The website reports that Meredith Vieira — who co-anchored “Today” for six years and also helped get the ABC morning show “The View” off the ground — received a secret offer from NBC about two weeks ago, but wasn’t interested.

More recently, Vieira has been a contributor to NBC’s “Dateline” and “Rock Center.”

As previously reported, Savannah Guthrie, who co-hosts the third hour of "Today," is at the top of the list of contenders to replace Curry.

  1. The pay may not be the same but I can imagine she’s enjoy the stress-free job of hosting “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” compared to the pressure-cooker in hosting the Today Show. She probably didn’t even need a life line to answer that secret offer/question.

  2. Time will tell how this scenario will play out but one senses that Ms Curry isn’t just a pretty face to play along to demands (she’s already got her lawyer on board and she had no problem showing up for work when everyone thought she would save face and not) which is probably what got her in trouble in the first place…for now there might be some roadblocks that NBC wasn’t counting on.
