Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Is Suddenly on a Ratings Roll — Cable Net Reveals Its Three Most-Watched Telecasts Ever

The Oprah Winfrey-owned OWN cable network announced its second consecutive quarter of ratings growth, with the second quarter of 2012 posting double-digit increases in prime time and total day.

Additionally, the network saw improved numbers for part two of Winfrey’s interview with the Kardashian family on the program “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” as Sunday’s broadcast attracted 1.2 million viewers, up 9% from part one a week earlier. The network reported that Sunday’s program ranked No. 1 across the key female demographics in the time period and was the cable net’s third-highest-rated telecast ever.

Sunday’s episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter” was up triple digits versus year-ago numbers across all key demos for the time period. The program trailed only the March 11, 2012, “Oprah’s Next Chapter” featuring an interview with the family of Whitney Houston (3.5 million total viewers) and a Jan. 8, 2012, episode with Pastor Joel Osteen (1.6 million) to place No. 3 all time among OWN telecasts in total viewers.

OWN’s second quarter was up 31% from a year ago in total viewers and up 25% in women 25-54 for total day. Looking at prime time only, the network was up 11% for the quarter in total viewers and up 10% in women 25-54.

For the week of June 18 the network reported its 23rd consecutive week of growth compared with year-ago numbers. For the week the network was up 35% in total viewers and up 42% in women 25-54, for total day.

  2. ‘Are,You Normal America’ was cancled do to low ratings.

  3. Are You Normal, America wasn’t cancelled. It is being scheduled for later this summer.

  4. I heard it will air again regularly in September. I sure hope so it is one of the ONLY things worth watching on OWN & just an all around fun game show.
