Longtime “Today” co-host Ann Curry confirmed her departure from the NBC show during this morning’s broadcast, delivering an emotional farewell as she sat on the couch with co-host Matt Lauer and other show regulars. Curry broke down in tears throughout the segment — and she wasn’t the only one.

Here’s the video — and a challenge: See if you can make it all the way through without breaking down yourself:

  1. Not bad for someone being unfairly forced out. She should start a show with Sue Simmons.

  2. We’ve switched to the CBS morning show because of its superior news content. But Ann Curry has always been a class act with The Today Show. She’s a top-rate journalist with heart. As a retired local TV news anchor who can relate to the realities of ratings, I’m sad for Ann and feel her departure from the Today Show anchor team is a loss for viewers.

  3. I think Ann Curry is a class act and I wish her the very best in her new role, which sounds very interesting to travel the world. I was in New York a few years ago and spoke to her briefly (and got my picture made with her) when she was outside on the plaza. She was warm and kind to all of us and took time to say hello to the fans! Matt Lauer, by the way, did not. He was “too busy!”
Shame on NBC! Where is our world going when systems push good people out? The show will not be the same without Ann Curry! I am saddened for her!

  4. Ann is a true professinal.
I can not think of too many people who would come in all week knowing what today would bring. It is obvious that NBC (the NoBody Conscious) network is at it again ~~ making hideously wrong decisions! Well effective today, I have just become a Good Morning America viewer!

  5. Well, my emotional breakdown started with her first word. So sorry to see her go, but she will be fabulous in her new role! So glad we’ll be seeing her at the Olympics.
