CNN Under Fire After Using What Some Consider an Insulting Song to Introduce Sarah Palin Segment

After using the Pink song "Stupid Girls" to introduce a segment on Sarah Palin, CNN has said the music selection was unintentional and not meant as commentary, reports TheWrap.com.

"The music selection was a poor choice and was not intended to be linked to any news story," CNN said in a statement. "We regret any perception that they were planned together."

The segment was a report about Palin supporting Chick-fil-A. According to The Huffington Post, Palin tweeted support for the company during a controversy over its president’s views on gay marriage.

CNN’s statement came after several conservative sites pointed to the song selection as an example of liberal bias, according to TheWrap.

The Sarah Palin incident “comes eight months after ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ apologized for Fallon’s house band, The Roots, playing Fishbone’s ‘Lyin’ Ass Bitch’ as Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann walked onstage,” TheWrap notes.

The Chick-fil-A controversy has included a high-profile spat with Jim Henson Company, as previously reported.

  1. My, My, My, so many “unintentional” gaffes…

  2. No music selction is unintentional on a television program. Some one intended that song to be played at that time. It was likely not the sales people as they are the ones that have to do the apologies and explanantions in the field. But a producer or associate producer intentionally picked that song.

  3. Liberal bias, conservative bias… potato, potatoe; tomtato, tomatoe… It’s all tit-for-tat… Ha…

  4. I am surprised she was smart enough to catch it. If the glove doth fit, the producer you must aquit.

  5. Oh, headline writer, what “some” consider insulting? How is “stupid” not insulting?

  6. Ms. Palin is a has been, hypocrite and someone who is just a little to sensitive and full of herself. If the shoe fits, wear it bitch….I wonder when her fifteen minutes will be up for good?
