Over $70,000 Paid for Prop Used in Original ‘Star Trek’ TV Series

Heated last-minute bidding led to a winning price of $70,150 for a prop used in the original "Star Trek" television series, reports Ohio’s Canton Repository.

The prop, a Galileo shuttlecraft, had been bought by a collector in the Akron, Ohio, area and stored there for several years, the story notes. The 24-foot-long, 9-foot-tall shuttle was offered in an 11-day online auction, the piece notes.

An early bid of $20,000 appeared to be poised to win the prop, when the action heated up in the last 90 seconds of the auction.

Three late bidders "locked horns," the story says. "It was pretty dramatic,” auctioneer Brooks Ames said. He didn’t release the name of the buyer, but said he believes the new owner will restore the Galileo NCC-1701/7, shuttlecraft of the U.S.S. Enterprise, and perhaps put it on display in a museum.

  1. I winder if it’s being showed on “star truck” channel… the illegal (no retrans fees paid) “JustinTv” channel.
