Ben Davidson, who was a feared defenseman for the Oakland Raiders during his NFL playing days and later became a TV pitchman for Miller Lite beer, has died, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 72.

Davidson died Monday night from prostate cancer, his former Raiders coach John Madden said.

Davidson appeared in 27 commercials for Miller Lite beer, with one 1982 spot featuring him menacingly reminding comedian Rodney Dangerfield during a bowling tournament, "All we need is one pin, Rodney." (See the video below.)

He also had roles on TV shows including the 1970s series "Ball Four" and "Code R," and made a series of guest appearances on shows including "Happy Days" and "Fantasy Island."
