USA Network’s "Political Animals," which stars Sigourney Weaver as the former first lady who becomes Secretary of State, debuted Sunday to a relatively soft start with 2.6 million viewers, reports Deadline.com.

The miniseries, from Greg Berlanti and Laurence Mark, is getting a push on alternate platforms such as Hulu and USANetwork.com, in an effort to attract more viewers, the story notes.

Demo numbers for Sunday’s telecast included 675,000 adults 18-49 and 834,000 adults 25-54, the report notes.

  1. I;m not surprised. “The Newsroon” on HBO is getting tepid ratings as well. People aren’t going to be motivated to watch something so overtly political when they’re already probably sick of the Presidential campaign already.

  2. I agree with Bill. There is already too much politics on TV. They should have run this in the off season for the elections. It is also too close to the Clintons and yet such a broad exaggeration it is liek a slap. No one can consider this fair even if they are a Republican.
