As an example, the 10 nominees for best TV comedy are “All in the Family,” “Cheers,” “I Love Lucy,” “Seinfeld,” “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “M*A*S*H,” “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” “The Cosby Show,” “The Honeymooners” and "The Simpsons."

Other categories include favorite TV theme song, favorite TV dad, favorite TV mom, best TV host, best non-human character, most memorable TV moment, best TV drama, best legal or cop show, favorite reality show, best TV game show, favorite soap opera/daytime drama, best animated show and best variety show.

The show will air in September and will include classic and never-before-aired scenes from the shows, as well as interviews with some stars and directors of the winning series, the story adds.

  1. Seems about right for the ABC News division these days to take on such a hard hitting story. After all, why report on the economy or foreign countries or anything else that might actually qualify as news… It’s the sad state of Network News today.

  2. Mad Men nominated for Best TV show of all time? The Wire nominated for Best TV show of all time and it wasn’t even nominated as best Drama? What about West Wing? Breaking Bad? Friday Night Lights? Twighlight Zone? THose couldn’t even make the nominations before the Wire?
