Another potential issue has surfaced for NBC’s Olympics coverage, with the network accidentally broadcasting a female water polo player’s breast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Although there has been no public fallout as of yet, accidental network nudity has caused major controversy in the past," the article notes, pointing to the 2004 "wardrobe malfunction" that exposed Janet Jackson’s breast during the Super Bowl halftime show.

"The pulling of swimsuits is considered fairly common practice in water polo, since it is a quite physical sport. Nevertheless, the incident only exacerbates the potential for criticisms of NBC for their coverage of the 2012 Olympic Games," the story adds.

  1. Oh who cares.. its a sport and physical and things happen.. an accident caught on tape for a second.. The Janet Jackson issue was a purposeful event that was staged for publicity at the cost to the network.. no compareing the two events.

  2. Ha! We are a silly species. This is why the original Olympic athletes competed in the nude; so a competitor could not get advantage by pulling on coverings (and because it was a celebration of the body). “Gymnastics”, which covered all kinds of sports back then, derives from the Greek for “naked”.

  3. What’s the big deal.? New York’s Supreme Court ruled that it’s perfectly legal for a woman to walk around topless, anytime she wants to, in New York City. Can a woman get away with that in London.?

  4. Me thinks only boobs would care!

  5. It’s really silly how Americans are so squemish about nudity. Nudity, including public nudity is fairly normal the world over. Beaches, Lakes, Resorts… everywhere. But in the US … OMG a bare
breast !! Americans are socially deprived and really backwards.
