Anthony Bourdain Unleashes Verbal Assault on Rival Chef’s New Eatery

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, a star of Travel Channel and CNN, stuck a verbal fork in one of his rivals, calling Guy Fieri’s new midtown Manhattan restaurant a “terror-dome,” Esquire reports.

And he didn’t stop there. Fieri, the star of Food Network’s "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," recently opened Guy’s American Kitchen and Bar, which became the subject of a volley of insults from Bourdain during an appearance on the "Opie and Anthony" radio program.

Bourdain attacked the new eatery for its large 500-seat capacity, its pricing, its gift shop and its “douchebag” patronage, the story reports.

Bourdain added: "He single-handedly turned the neighborhood into the Ed Hardy district, which I’m a little pissed off about."

Others have also joined in the chorus complaints about the new Fieri venture, the report notes, with food critics and Twitter users among those offering negative appraisals.

“Guy’s American Kitchen and Bar does make an almost too-easy target, though, what with its two Yelp stars and a website with no shortage of ‘taco grease’ mentions or Fieri’s metal bracelets and bleached hair,” the report notes.

Bourdain has never been one to bite his tongue, having previously attacked other TV food stars including Paula Deen, Bobby Flay, Sandra Lee and Rachael Ray.

  1. Can we say “sour grapes” or “jealousy”? Not to say that Guy doesn’t get on my nerves big time with his punk rocker look and the stupid sunglasses on the back of his greasy-looking hair, but STILL he’s immensely popular compared to Anthony Bourdain (I don’t care for him either, he seems VERY arrogant, at least Guy appears to be very down to earth).
