A veteran actor best known for two iconic oddball roles — one on TV and one in film — will be a part of the Fox comedy series “Raising Hope,” EW.com’s Inside TV reports. “Taxi” and "Back to the Future" star Christopher Lloyd has been tapped for a guest appearance on the Fox show, the piece reports.

Lloyd will appear in an episode with a "Back to the Future" theme, playing a loan collector who calls on the Chance family to collect on old debt, the story says. (Minor spoiler alert …)

Lloyd will drive a DeLorean — the make of the time-traveling car in the "Back to the Future" movies, the piece notes. Lloyd had a tour-de-force performance as Emmett “Doc” Brown in the “Back to the Future” trilogy from 1985-1990.

Lloyd’s most recent prime-time television role was an appearance on Fox’s "Fringe" last year, the story notes. But he’s best remembered on television for his work as the burned-out hippie Jim Ignatowski on the late-‘70s/early-‘80s ABC sitcom “Taxi.” Lloyd won two of his three Emmys for “Taxi,” adding another win for Disney Channel’s “Avonlea” in 1992.

Here’s a look at a fondly remembered moment featuring Lloyd as Jim on “Taxi”:
