NBC Shelves Sitcom Project

NBC has decided not to go ahead with a project that had been in the works as a midseason sitcom, Deadline.com reports.

The project, starring comedian Dane Cook, is "Next Caller." After taping four shows, NBC made the decision to halt production. The network had initially ordered six episodes.

Reportedly, the show was not moving in the creative direction NBC had in mind. In the show, Cook played a dirty-talking disc jockey on a satellite radio station who found himself sharing the microphone with an NPR feminist, played by Collette Wolfe.

"Next Caller" was created and executive produced by Stephen Falk.

  1. I saw the pilot. It wasn’t that bad.
