One of the most beloved television series of the 1970s and early 1980s is in the works for a reboot into a motion picture, reports Deadline.com.

The series is "Little House on the Prairie." Abi Morgan is set to write the screenplay with David Gordon Green directing the feature and Trip Friendly producing.

The TV series and potential film emanate from the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, which were written between 1932 and 1943. The stories followed a family living on a farm in 19th century America.

In the NBC TV series, Michael Landon was the head of the family, with child star Melissa Gilbert playing Laura Ingalls as a girl.
