In an announcement made by Bob Schieffer on "Face the Nation," CBS has named a new chief White House correspondent, reports TVNewser.com. Former Fox News Channel fixture Major Garrett was picked for the job.

Garrett, who left Fox News two years ago for National Journal, replaces Norah O’Donnell, who left the job when she joined "CBS This Morning" as co-host in September. Garrett starts at CBS News on Sunday.

Garrett was the senior White House correspondent for Fox News, including covering the 2004 and 2008 presidential elections.
