"Downton Abbey" creator Julian Fellowes expressed optimism that the show will receive a fourth-season order, noting he thought it would be "pretty odd" if it didn’t, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Fellowes was asked about a fourth season during an event called "Downton Abbey: Behind the Scenes with Julian Fellowes and Company." While a fourth season hasn’t yet been ordered, executive producer Gareth Neame said he hoped "to have some news in a few days."

The show recently aired its third season in the U.K. and earned its biggest audience yet, the piece adds.

Spoiler alert … Asked whether Maggie Smith’s character, Violet, the Dowager Countess of Grantham, would die in a Christmas special, Fellowes said that while he doesn’t like to give away storylines, "The dowager is not going to die." His response to the question received "much applause," the story adds.
