HBO has given a season order to a project from Stephen Merchant, who co-created "The Office," reports Deadline.com. The order is for eight episodes.

Called "Hello Ladies," the project stars Merchant, who is 6 feet, 7 inches tall, trying to charm women in Los Angeles in a bid to find his soulmate, the story says. Unfortunately, Merchant’s character isn’t as charming as he thinks and is also desperate as he tries to infiltrate the beautiful people.

Besides his involvement in the original Ricky Gervais version of “The Office,” Merchant is known for his role as an actor, co-writer and co-director of Gervais’ HBO series “Extras.”

  1. I am very curious to see how this series turns out. It has been very disappointing to see Ricky Gervais’ efforts since The Office become progressively more mean spirited to the point where I have gone from being a major fan to nearly being repulsed by what I am seeing.
