In what has been described as a “generational changeover,” Discovery Channel issued a cancellation notice to the eight-year-old reality series "Dirty Jobs," Deadline.com reports.
The cancellation was announced by the series’ star and creator Mike Rowe in a blog post called "A Turkey Without a Pardon."
Another veteran Discovery reality show, "American Chopper," was also canceled this month, as previously reported.
"A few weeks ago, I was officially informed that ‘Dirty Jobs’ had entered into a new phase. One I like to call, ‘permanent hiatus.’ Or in the more popular industry vernacular, canceled," Rowe wrote on his blog.
He continued, "Dirty Jobs is a very personal show, and it’s difficult for me to imagine a future that does not involve exploding toilets, venomous snakes, misadventures in animal husbandry, and feces from every species."
