Soon after the news circulated this morning that Chris Cuomo would be moving from ABC to CNN, ABC News President Ben Sherwood announced that David Muir will co-anchor "20/20" with Elizabeth Vargas, taking over Cuomo’s chair, reports Deadline.com.

Muir is currently the weekend host of the network’s "World News," and Diane Sawyer’s substitute in her absences during the week.

In a memo, Sherwood touted Muir’s work with the network, saying, “For the last two years David has appeared on air more often than any correspondent at any news division, reporting from Tahrir Square to Fukushima to Tucson to Aurora.”

  1. Hello David,
I have been wanting to write (e-mail) you for quite a long time now.
I am an older woman who doesn’t sleep much at night so therefore I watch the news a lot.
I feel as if I have seen you grow up over all these years. I guess in a way I have followed your life.
As 20/20 is also one of my favorite programs. I watched you in the middle of the night on the news every
night. I feel very proud of you with what you have accomplished. You are amazing and I am sure your family is so proud of you. I simply wanted to say “CONGRATULATIONS” you are a wonderful young man and belong in the company of “Jennings, Gibson and Diane. Good Luck to you always and God Bless you
