Three weeks after being seriously burned in a backyard accident, ESPN morning anchor Hannah Storm returned to work on New Year’s Day to host coverage of the Rose Parade in Pasadena, reports the Los Angeles Times’ SportsNow.

The injury was caused when a propane barbecue exploded as she attempted to relight the burner, the story says.

"A neighbor said he thought a tree had fallen through the roof, it was that loud. It blew the doors off the grill," she said.

Storm’s left hand is still bandaged, and she spent 24 hours receiving treatment at a trauma and burn center, according to the piece. She said her return to work made her a little uneasy.

"I’m a little nervous about things I used to take for granted," Storm said. "Little things like putting on makeup and even turning pages on my script."

Storm also noted that viewers might spot something different about her hair as she is wearing extensions on camera, the piece reports.
