"The actor best known for playing the TV character Gomer Pyle in the 1960s has married his male partner of 38 years," reports the Associated Press, adding that the "Hawaii News Now reported that Jim Nabors [who played Gomer Pyle in two popular sitcoms, "The Andy Griffith Show" and the spinoff "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C."] and his partner, Stan Cadwallader, traveled from their Honolulu home to Seattle to be married Jan. 15. Gay marriage became legal in Washington state last month."
Separately, People magazine reports that "Ashley Judd and Dario Franchitti are splitting after more than a decade of marriage."
The People story continues, " ‘We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed,’ Judd, 44, and Franchitti, 39, [told] People exclusively in a statement on Tuesday [Jan. 29, 2013]."
The AP story about Nabors says, "Nabors is 82 years old. Cadwallader is in his late 60s. Nabors said you’ve got to solidify something when you’ve been together as long as they have. The couple met in 1975 when Cadwallader was a Honolulu firefighter.
"Nabors said he’s been open about his homosexuality to co-workers and friends but never acknowledged it to the media before."
