Fox scored the second-highest-rated drama premiere of the season with the debut Monday night of the new Kevin Bacon series “The Following,” TVbytheNumbers.com reports.

The series turned in a time zone-adjusted 3.2 average rating in the key 18-49 demo, ranking it as the season’s second-best debut for a new drama after NBC’s “Revolution.”

It wasn’t enough to unseat CBS for prime time overall, with the Eye Network turning in a 3.0 average rating in viewers 18-49 to top Fox (2.7 average), ABC (2.3) and NBC (2.0). CBS also claimed a narrow win in total viewers, averaging 10.3 million to 9.4 million for Fox, 7.9 million for ABC and 5.3 million for NBC.

Other than the number for “The Following,” ratings for the night are preliminary.

Fox’s “Bones” rose 10% from last week to a 2.3 in 18-49.

CBS had two comedies tie for top show of the night: “How I Met Your Mother” and “2 Broke Girls” each delivered a 3.7 average rating in the 18-49 demo. “Mike & Molly” scored a 3.3 and “Hawaii Five-0” pulled in a 2.2 as the whole CBS lineup was down between 5% and 10% from a week ago.

ABC’s two-hour “The Bachelor” came in just a tick ahead of NBC’s two-hour “The Biggest Loser,” 2.5 to 2.4 in viewers 18-49.
