Producer/director/writer Frank Darabont ("Shawshank Redemption," "The Walking Dead") really wanted to call his upcoming TNT drama series "L.A. Noir," but the threat of a lawsuit appears to have prompted a name change, reports Deadline.com.

The series, which has a six-episode order, is based on the book "L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City" by John Buntin. However, in an interview with io9.com, Darabont revealed why the show will likely not be called "L.A. Noir."

According to the Darabont, Rockstar, the “company with the video game called L.A. Noire, threatened to sue the shit out of me, TNT, every company that actually ever worked in Hollywood.” Darabont added: “I do believe the title is going to be ‘Lost Angels.’"

Describing the show, TNT’s head of programming Michael Wright said it’s “a sweeping tale of the battle for the soul of the city that was waged between the forces of the LAPD and the West Coast mob.”
