ABC reportedly has a spinoff in the works based on one of its drama series. TheWrap.com reports that the network is working on a "Once Upon a Time" spinoff that would feature the Mad Hatter character played by "Gossip Girl" actor Sebastian Stan.

Stan played the character in a few episodes of the show, and the show is in the very early planning stages, the piece notes.

Deadline.com notes that ABC is now looking at different actors, as Stan isn’t available for a series commitment. Stan is preparing for a role in "Captain America," the story adds.

The spinoff could end up in competition with NBC’s upcoming "Wonderland," another take on "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland," the 1865 novel by Lewis Carroll. "Wonderland" is from "CSI" creator Anthony Zuiker and focuses on Alice as a woman who becomes the evil Queen, the story adds.
