The creator of AMC’s "Breaking Bad," Vince Gilligan, will direct the show’s finale, marking only the fifth time he has helmed the award-winning series during its five-season run, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Gilligan will also write the series finale, the piece notes. He previously directed the pilot, the last episode of season three, and the final two episodes of the fourth season.

At a recent event, Gilligan said he would still like to see a spinoff featuring Bob Odenkirk, who plays the criminal lawyer Saul Goodman.

"He always seemed to me like a character who could support his own show. I very, very much would like to see that happen. It would be a little lighter in tone than ‘Breaking Bad,’ but it would be a fun thing to have," Gilligan said, according to the story.
