Freshman Talk Show Canceled as Daytime Toll Mounts

Another entry in the crowded field of freshman daytime talk shows has been canceled, as the casualty count climbs. Failing to survive to a second season is "The Jeff Probst Show," the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports.

The cancellation comes a week after "The Ricki Lake Show" was canceled by Twentieth Television.

Probst, who hosts CBS’s “Survivor,” said in a statement: “I’m super bummed but extremely proud. The truth is all shows come to an end. Ours just ended a decade sooner than we had hoped.”

CBS Television Distribution decided not to continue the show with Probst even though it had a two-year deal for distribution. Probst’s show never gained ratings momentum in the crowded daytime talk arena, the story notes.

  1. I guess Jeff didn’t learn the lessons from Survivor – he needed to outwit, outplay, outlast his competition. The tribe has spoken, err maybe not spoken 🙂
