Katie Couric says she once went on a date with Larry King, and described it as something "out of a bad Lifetime movie" during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel,” according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed.

Couric was 30 when she went on the date (she’s now 56), and was living in Washington, D.C., as was King, who is 23 years older than her. Couric agreed to go out with anyone who asked because she felt it could be a learning experience, the story says.

"I see that we’re going over [Arlington] Memorial Bridge, and this is not the way to my apartment. I said, ‘Larry, where are we going?’ And he said, ‘My place.’ Oh mother of God," Couric said, according to the piece.

She continued, "So we sat there, and what can I say? He lunged … and I started laughing a little bit because the whole situation was out of a bad Lifetime movie. I said, ‘Larry, you are such a nice man, but I would like to meet someone a little closer to my age.’"

King actually told his version of the date on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in 2009, saying, "Nothing happened with Katie and I," the piece adds.

Couric also revealed that Michael Jackson once asked a mutual acquaintance if she’d go out on a date with him. She said she didn’t, but that she was "sorry I didn’t just have dinner with him because that would have been a fascinating conversation."
