An actor in the hit HBO drama series “Game of Thrones” had part of his ear bitten off in an incident in Newcastle, England, BBC News reports.

Clive Mantle, who plays Lord Greatjon Umber in the fantasy series, was attacked at a hotel over noise, the story reports. Mantle, 55, had his ear sewn back on, and a 32-year-old man was charged with wounding with intent, according to the report.

The actor’s spokesman said he believed Mantle was pinned to the floor in a hotel and attacked after asking other guests to lower their noise.

"He is very shaken and shocked by what has happened; you don’t expect this kind of thing to happen in a hotel," his spokesman said. "The part of the ear that was bitten off was found and sewn back on. Mr. Mantle said the police, ambulance and hospital staff were amazing."

Mantle also starred in the U.K. medical drama series “Casualty.”
