With news that Jay Leno might be leaving NBC’s "The Tonight Show" to make room for Jimmy Fallon, the network is reportedly grooming a replacement for Fallon’s time slot, according to The New York Post.

That replacement is reportedly shock jock Howard Stern, who is also currently a judge on "America’s Got Talent."

"Howard has been trying to show TV suits for years that he’s the whole package. … He’s shown — on ‘AGT,’ one of the most popular family shows on TV — that he can act like a grown-up and play well with others, if the money’s right,” the story reports.

Stern’s previous stints in late-night TV had mixed results, the piece adds. He made pilots in 1987 in an attempt to replace Joan Rivers on "The Late Show," but a program didn’t make it to air, the story says. His Saturday night program "The Howard Stern Radio Show" aired on CBS stations, which started dropping the show because of its risque content, the piece adds.
